UNHCR and the Clowns Without Borders visit refugees during the 16 days of activism

Violence can be expressed in several forms ranging from physical aggression like hitting, pushing, rapes; to verbal and psychological violence like insults, naming, degradation, intimidation and discrimination.

4 December 2014 (UNHCR) – Within the framework of the 16 days of activism to fight gender violence, UNHCR and the International NGO Clowns Without Borders have come together to carry out expeditions to the three refugee camps in Liberia and surrounding communities to send messages of peace and to provide children and adults the opportunity of experiencing something as simple as laughter. During 10 days, refugee and non-refugee children will welcome the expedition joining them in saying ‘no to gender violence’ and to make every place safe from violence.

Between 28 November and 2 December, Bahn and PTP refugee camps were the scenery of bursting laughs and messages of non-violence. Today and tomorrow, the expedition is finishing its tour in the Little Wlebo Refugee camp as well as in Harper City. Next week, with the support from UNICEF, the Clowns Without Borders will visit children in Monrovia.
